This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Technologist with 3D Printing experience to join a R&D team in Edward’s Metals Center of Excellence business unit who is focused on supporting advanced R&D projects throughout the organization. The Senior Technologist will work with cutting edge 3D Printing technologies to assist engineers on their R&D projects. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with the CNC machining group to provide hybrid solutions that extend the capability of 3D Printing alone.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Program, set up and operate a wider range of complex machines – up to 10 – SLA, 3D printer, and DMLS 3D printer to create prototype parts, tooling, and/or devices Build prototypes including molds and casts of silicone and

  • Collaborate with Engineering to identify, escalate, and/or clarify potential design issues

  • Provide training and guidance to advance the competence of Technicians

  • Other incidental duties: General work area housekeeping, keep current with EH&S requirements for machine operations

What you'll need (Required):

High School Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years’ experience in a technical environment or Associate degree or with 8+ years of technical experience including:

  • Software skills: 1 Solidworks/Creo Parametric Modeling; 2. Materialise - Magics Slicer; 3. 3D Systems – 3D Sprint Slicer; 4. Microsoft Office Suite

  • Shop Skills: 1. Ability to run manual machine shop equipment, mill and lathe; 2. Basic understanding of CNC machining practices; 3. Order supplies and service as required

5+ years of 3D printing experience including:

  • 3D Printing Technologies: 1. FDM 3D Printing; 2. Polyjet 3D Printing; 3. SLA/MSLA 3D Printing; 4. DMLM/SLS Metal 3D Printing

What else we look for (Preferred):

  • Knowledge of material compatibility with medical device regulatory requirements

  • Apply knowledge of processes in the use of machines to ensure successful outcomes, as well as to devise process changes

  • Effective communication skills

  • Able to read, comprehend, write, and speak English

  • Adhere to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety guidelines as they relate to machine operation and manufacturing facilities

  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision

  • Work in a Team environment, including inter-departmental teams

  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For California, the base pay range for this position is $82,000 to $112,000 (highly experienced).
